Madrid. Circa 1765-70
Of tropical hardwoods, engraved brass inlay, carved lacquer and gilt-bronze. The serpentine central section with doors inlaid with single bird and floral motifs and flanked by two bans of brass-inlaid drawer mounted with finely chased gilt-bronze handles. Surrounding is a system of lozenge inlaid shelves with fretted marquetry foliated backs. Behind the central doors are further floral inlays and these doors when open act as a release for the central locking mechanism of the drawers.
