A Romantic Poet.
A portrait of a young man, painted in oil on canvas and within the original gilt gesso frame. The sitter is dressed in a way similar to several portraits of Romantic Poets; Keats, Shelley, Byron.
The painting is unsigned but the style and quality is that of William Hilton who painted a portrait of Keats as well as John Clare, the Peasant Poet.
