Roberson's Artists' Easel.

Mahogany artists' easel retailed by Robersons when at 99 Long Acre, London.

The brush drawer with a locking drop-down cover doubles as the lower support and there is an adjustable top rail that has a thumb-screw to safely secure a work's upper edge.

A displayed painting can be shown from a low of 18.5 inches adjustable up to a height of 42.25 inches. The easel's collapsed dimensions are w:24 inches x h:50.5 inches.

English circa 1860.

When Charles Roberson split with Miller in 1839, he kept their premises at 51 Long Acre. Roberson's enjoyed a wide ranging reputation throughout the Victorian era and exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851. By the end of the 19th century they employed their own agents in Paris and in 1889 they had opened a further branch in Piccadilly. Charles Roberson was in business at 99 Long Acre from 1853 until his death at this address in 1876 when he was succeeded by his nephew, Charles Park.
