Rare Regency Period Casket in dark green leather, the leather in unrestored condition.
Provenance ELIZABETH MORTIMORE 1828.
The top having a lift up flap for letters, the middle drawer various compartments for scissors, threads and pin cushions and the bottom drawer with another lift up flap for writing paper and divisions for ink bottles.
It is interesting to note the difference in colour of the leather from the exterior . the whole lined with lovely marbleized paper, with delicate gilt handles and standing on brass paw feet.
