A Fine Quality Late Regency Period Rosewood Centre
Table Having Superbly Figured Circular Tilting Top With
Foliate Brass Inlaid Decoration To Wide Crossbanding
Raised On Triform Support And Base With Elegant
Original Scrolling Feet

(A popular type of table from the late 18th century and
throughout the 19th century large centre tables with central
supports were used in a variety of different places around
the home including but not limited to hallways, dining rooms,
libraries and studies. They come in a huge plethora of shapes,
sizes, qualities, timbers and woods of course and were often
dual purpose in terms of standing centrally in a room looking
elegant whilst also being capable of being used for eating at
particularly for breakfast, hence why they are often referred
to as breakfast tables. This example is excellent quality and a
good functional size which could seat 6 very comfortably and
possibly 8 at squeeze. It is also incredibly elegant and in very
good condition and would be perfect in an entrance hall or
similar. For ease of transportation the top can be removed and
also the tilting design was very deliberate so as to allow the
table to be pushed away into the corner of the room when
required leaving more space centrally. The brass inlaid detailing
is also a very refined touch)
