A very fine quality and very attractive Regency period English Mahogany Side Cabinet, or Chiffonier.

Having veined marble top over two pleated cupboard doors with original brass grilles, flanked by parcel gilt and ebonised Egyptianesque columns.

This particularly attractive side cabinet is bold in proportion, although still relatively narrow, making it ideal for many a room in which a traditional sideboard or serving table would be too deep.

The marble is old and possibly original, although this cannot be confirmed, but it certainly works beautifully with the piece.

The doors typically enclose shelves and the fabric behind the grilles is old but still in reasonable condition.

Should the purchaser wish to change this to a fabric of their choice which suits a particular scheme then that would be a very easy and inexpensive job with the door panels just popping out.

It is constructed from a very high grade of mahogany which in tandem with the quality of craftsmanship involved suggests that this would have been made in one of the top London workshops of the period.

Circa 1820.
