A Rare Regency Period Free-Standing Bookcase.

Constructed from walnut, supported on brass castors and splayed legs, with one open side fitted with two shelves; the back fitted with a brass grille and silk fabric dustcover while the sides are panelled and centred by brass lion mask handles. The top of the bookcase set with a tooled dark green leather surface outlined with a three-quarter brass gallery.

English, circa 1815.

A very attractive and practical item of furniture, it is this bookcase's unusual small proportions that we love. With the adjustable shelves, leather top, and gallery to prevent items from rolling off the edge, it responds to all your needs. The free-standing design and beautiful Regency touches such as the lion masks are the crowning features.
