A rare pair of cylindrical cups and saucers, flat cut and gilded with flowers from the workshop of James Giles.

English c. 1765-70

Height of cup 5.9cm.  Diameter of saucer 11.1 cm

A most unusual pair perhaps for drinking or dessert.  One cup has the classic Giles ‘tulip’ with diverging petals* one of very few Giles subjects found on both porcelain and glass.

The gold rim to the saucers shows wear but the flowers are in reasonably good condition.
