French Officers ‘ship of the line’ Rum Flask.
An extremely rare and unusual Boxwood Rum Flask of Napoleon. The French Navy like the British Navy also had a Rum ration for the sailors because the water was often so foul tasting. Because of it’s quality I believe this must have been specially commissioned for an officer or Captain rather than an ordinary sailor. The quality is superb. I have never seen another what is essentially hip flask for Rum. The front is Napoleons uniform with medal etc. The back has initials and two heads facing each other. The Bi-corn hat lifts off revealing a cork and the head the top of the bottle. It sits well on a flat base. A wonderful patination throughout and near perfect condition.
