Rare early nineteenth century Napoleonic Straw Work Box. The top of the lid depicts a very attractive village scene with a church, the sun shining above it, and buildings to either side.
This scene is set within a cartouche surrounded by flowering sprays with plenty of colour remaining.
The sides and back are decorated with an attractive scrolling Renaissance style design.
The underside of the lid has a mirror set in straw work arranged in chevrons. The lower box has two pin cushions and is split into three lidded sections, decorated with flowers.
The Box is in an excellent state of preservation given the fragile nature of the materials it is made from.
