Rare Antique Tehran Rug.

In perfect untouched condition this truly is one of the rarest antique Tehran rugs you will ever see, it is a true masterpiece! Woven with the famous Garrus design, primarily found on antique Bidjar carpets and rugs.  This is known as the split arabesque design from the town of Garrus in Bidjar, the most famous and desired pattern on a midnight indigo main field.

With a stunning emerald green border, design work consists of flower-heads, leaves and ribbons in golds and red silk.  With the rare emerald green border in the finest kurk wool.  In the main field the indigo blue is the softest wool and again all the reds and golds design is in silk.  An abundance of silk has been used beautifully to great effect, creating an almost three dimensional feel with the variation in wool and silk and the Garrus design.  Some exquisite pinks and pale blues can also be seen on the smaller flowers in the centre.  We have added 16 close up images, so you can see all the amazing colours and detail.

Tehran rarely produced rugs of this design but were known for weaving exceptional quality carpets and rugs, this rug is no exception and really is best of type.  A rare opportunity to own a highly collectable and rare item. It can be used on the floor or hung as work of art, as it definitely is.

Request either a home visit or a showroom visit to view this rarity up close.  We would love to help you in your preferred way.
