THIS FINE SCRIPTORIUM DESK HAS A SIX PANELLED FRONT, FLANKED BY FLUTED STILES, IT HAS A WONDERFUL FIGURED OAK SLOPE. THERE IS A CUPBAORD DOOR TO THE REVERSE FOR THE STORAGE OF MANUSCRIPTS AND A SMALL SECRET DOOR TO THE LEFT SIDE WITH ORIGINAL LOCK AND MUSEUM INVENTORY LABEL.

THESE SCRIPTORIUM DESKS WERE USED IN SCRIPTORIUM ROOMS FOR THE WRITING OF MANUSCRIPTS ETC IN ABBEYS AND MONESTRIES THROUGHOUT EUROPE. THIS EXAMPLE HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY AT THE MUSEUM VAN GERWEN-LEMMENS, NETHERLANDS FROM 1922-1993. SEE IMAGE ATTACHED.
