A very good quality and charming early 18th century Queen Anne period Walnut Chest, retaining excellent untouched colour and patina throughout.

With well figured, inlaid and crossbanded top over two short and three long drawers. With replaced brass handles, raised on attractive replacement turned bun feet.

Its certainly worth considering that this piece of furniture is over 300 years old, yet as fit for purpose as the day it was made, as well as being both very beautiful and in excellent condition.

The top, sides and drawer fronts have all been crossbanded and herringboned. It is always a perceived sign of quality when as much effort appears to have been made by the cabinet maker to decorate the sides as well as the top and drawer fronts, as this was not always the case!

Both handles and feet are later replacements, but that is common for chests of this age due to their heavy use over many years.

Both sets of replacements have been thoughtfully carried out with the newer variants very much of a design in keeping with the original period of the item.

All things considered this is an extremely useful, beautiful and functional piece of furniture which has tales to tell from over three centuries of existence already!
