A Chinese famille rose mid 18th century - Qianlong - porcelain bombe form Bough pot. Made at Jingdezhen for export to Europe, notably France and Italy.
painted to the outside with blue panels representing two small and two large drawers, separated by flower sprays. the edges are moulded and decorated with scroll work and heightened with gilt. The gilt is Chinese gilt not applied in Europe and is a softer gilding
The top has six holes where bulbs were placed above a filled body of water these could be anything from crocus to tulips.
The shape is copied from southern French faience of Montpellier and Moustiers (factory of Ferrat). this is a very popular shape and much copied by the Italian Ginori
The side panels are decorated with overglaze pink with landscape scenes
