Primitive Ash Work Bench or Low Table.
A wonderful primitive ash work bench (or an ideal coffee-table). The huge chamfered and well used one piece top is 4” thick and it has a small square cut hole in the top which might suggest that to was originally used by a cobbler and a metal ‘shoe-last’ could be fitted into the hole. With four very sturdy ash legs, which show signs of metal fixings.
A strong and sturdy bench or low table with an interesting and well used surface.
British 19th century.
