Prattware relief molded plaque with two male lions in repose English pottery circa 1800
Dated: 1800 English
This prattware relief molded oval-shaped plaque shows two male lions, one dark brown the other ochre-colored in repose on green grass. The central image is within a thin border of blue dashes, brown dots, and a wider ochre band at the rim. The depth of the relief molding is significant, as is the vibrant application of the prattware colors. The plaque is one of the best of its type and in fine condition.
Dimensions: 9 inches high 11 inches long.
Current Condition: Fine unrestored condition.
Literature: Cf. Prattware by John and Griselda Lewis.
