Powerful Art Deco Bronze Study "The Release" by Alexandre Kelety - Circa 1925.
A tremendous early 20th Century Art Deco bronze group of a strong athletic man holding the leashes of four powerful hounds as they strain to be released. The bronze exhibiting a rich green patinated surface with excellent hand finished surface detail, signed Kelety and numbered '10'.
Alexandre Kéléty (born in Budapest in 1874 and died in 1940) was a Hungarian sculptor. He was active as an artist, sculptor, painter and engraver from 1918 until his death in 1940. Kéléty married Hélène Grün Kéléty, daughter of the French naturalized Russian painter Maurice Grün. At the end of the First World War , he emigrated to France, where he became a pupil of the Hungarian painter and engraver Imre Karoly Simay in Toulouse. He then studies in Paris. In his works, he often represents animals as well as the theme of childhood. He also produces chryselephantine busts and statuettes depicting dancers and mythological figures in art deco style.
