A portrait miniature on vellum of a gentleman by John Hoskins (1590-1665).
English, mid 17th century.
Measures 2.7 x 2.2 cm.
Set in its original engraved silver gilt slide setting.
The gentleman is traditionally identified as Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey (1621-1678), circa 1655.
Signed centre left with the artist's initials ‘IH’ for John Hoskins (Wells, Somerset, c. 1590 - 1665 London).
