About the object
A fine and pretty reverse painted glass picture, Pheasant Shooting, after the original work by George Morland, within the original ebonized moulding frame, (fruitwood on pine) with gilt site.
Although this picture is very English in both subject and design, the method of reverse painting onto glass, particularly during the Georgian period, is more often European or Chinese. On balance this would appear more likely continental, perhaps even English, rather than Chinese, but certainly circa 1800.
