Persian Isfahan Rug.
Elegant furnishing rug made in the central Persian city of Isfahan in the early 20th century. The field on an off-white ground is filled with floral designs and a sixteen-lobed central medallion with flowers and arabesques. A cartouche at the top and bottom ends of the medallion and a fan-shaped floral arrangement give the impression of an anchor medallion. Flower-filled cartouches in the main border echo the theme.
Woll on a cotton foundation. Excellent condition.
