A patented 19th century Regency mahogany extending dining table made by Thomas Butler of Catherine Street, Strand, London.

The imperial early 19th century dining table is made with four detachable leaves and two larger rounded end leaves that are also detachable.  The extended dining table is supported on a telescopic oak superstructure that moves in or out depending on the number of leaves you have in.

The superstructure is supported on four solid mahogany sabre shaped legs that terminate on the original brass capped castors.  

One side of the table is inlaid with ebony stringing. 

With Nelson’s victories came furniture detailed with marine motifs of knotted ropes, dolphins, shells and anchors.  After Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, all Britain was in mourning.  Black was seen everywhere: even furniture was inlaid with ebony in permanent mourning for England's greatest hero. Tablecloths and china bore portraits of Nelson and were bordered with black

The table is most elegant with a desirable scale and a reeded edge complete with the original brass clips. The table will seat 14 diners formally and up to 16 diners informally.
