Description / Expertise:

Rare, Umbrian, baroque, trestle, Scantonata configuring both as a pair of consoles & an octagonal, center table.

- Versatile, Baroque design - the only early model of table that was conceived as two elements standing together as a centre table or individually as a pair of consoles; exuding Italian grandeur & versatility with characteristic lyre shaped, trestles.
- This rare model of console/centre table usually has a shallow moulding directly below the tops and these consoles incorporating a frieze are rare demonstrating they were made for a grand household.
- Characteristic of fine, Italian furniture, the form is classically elegant and the lyre shaped trestles inject Baroque spleandour and gravitas.
- They have a lustrous patina and are in excellent condition.
- Provenance : Private collection, Rome; the home they were reputedly made for. Bearing the inventory numbers.
- Made by the same hand, they are not an exact pair with subtle and slight differences that you have to look for to see.
