A magnificent pair of sterling silver three light candelabra, made after a design by Paul de Lamerie. They were completely hand made by Richard Comyns and son - one 1979 and one 1982 and are of impressive size and weight.
The column modelled as a bust of an aged Bacchus supporting a central capital and three detachable scroll arms with female busts and three capitals, scroll shell and vine leaf decoration, the whole on scroll tri-form bases with vine leaves.
This pair are copies, the originals of which can be found in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, made by Paul de Lamerie in 1747.
