Pair of rare fine Qum rugs.

Rug weaving in the city of Qum only started at the beginning of the 20th century and the city quickly established itself  as a centre for exceptional fine weavings.  Qum is known for their unique decorative carpets with classically precise drawings and luxurious wool, often merino, setting it apart from other Persian weaving centres.

Woven in fine lustrous wool, this highly decorative pair of Qum rugs illustrates the best of two worlds - the fineness of early workshop weavings, and the creative characteristics of  rare tribal Qashqai rugs of the mid-19th century. The colours are all vegetable dyed which have aged nicely.

They will make pleasant additions to a wide variety of settings.
