An attractive and rare pair of antique silver George III telescopic candlesticks made in Sheffield in 1798 by The Leader Brothers (Tomas and Daniel). The sconces and square bases have a reeded edge and the height can be adjusted. Eighteenth century telescopic silver candlesticks are rare and these are particularly early examples with the first patents for telescoping candlesticks being taken out in 1796. They are both in superb condition.

Height when closed 6.25 inches 16.4 cm.

Height when opened and raised 7.75 inches 20 cm.

Bases 3.75 x 3.75 inches 9 x 9 cm.
