A pair of very fine neoclassical Georgian wine coasters made in Sheffield in 1786 by Henry Tudor and Thomas Leader. They are of an unusual undulating coronet shape which is surmounted by a  delicate beaded border. The coasters are finely engraved and hand pierced and bear the original owners letter ‘G’.They still retain their original mahogany bases and are in superb condition. They still bear the head of George III struck in incuse (signifying tax at sixpence an ounce had been paid). This particular mark was terminated in London in 1785 but remained in use in the provinces until 1786.An excellent pair of eighteenth century wine/decanter coasters
