A magnificent matching pair of unusually shaped George III period neo-classical silver salvers made in London in 1781/1783 by the specialist salver and tray maker Richard Rugg. The salvers have a beaded edge and stand on four conforming feet which are typical of the period but the shaped border in an oval shape is most unusual. They are both engraved with a superb original armorial and are of a much larger size than is commonly met with for a pair. One salver is made in 1781 and the other 1783 and are identical. The condition is quite superb - these are perhaps as fine a pair of neo-classical period salvers that one could find.
