Each finely painted in 'famille-rose' enamels with alternating circular and leaf-shaped panels containing court ladies and young boys at play in interior scenes leading onto garden terraces. The interiors furnished with classical Chinese furniture, scholars objects, screens, books, a dish of finger citron and brush pots containing precious objects and scroll paintings, all indicative of high-ranking scholarly life, reserved against a 'famille-noire' foliate ground with luxuriant full-blown blooms of peony, lotus, asters and morning glory, the shoulders with elaborate lappet bands incorporating 'cash' medallions and further flowers and foliage, the neck with leaf-shaped panels containing sepia landscapes, against a pink diaper ground, all above a pendant panelled border to the base, the domed cover similarly decorated surmounted by gilt lion-dog knop.
