A pair of butter dishes, covers and stands, cut with bands of diamonds and engraved with crests and initials.
English, circa 1820.
Height: 18.5 cm., Diameter of stands: 18 cm.
The initial is a single P. The crest appears to be a demi seahorse assurgent which belongs to the family Page of Gosport, Hampshire. These butter dishes are wonderful quality examples of English cut glass.
Unfortunately one cover is quite badly damaged, now restored, in the flange area. Had this not been the case the price would have been at least twice as much. They would still look very good on the table.
