Inspired by the RHSThis pair of French glass opaline vases of typical Baccarat form and style are decorated in the distinctive manner of Jean-Francois Robert whose technique for glass painting was patented in the 1830s. He decorated at his own workshop in Sevres, having formerly been employed at the porcelain factory.
The finely painted floral bouquets and sprigs incorporate many species of flowers including peonies and tulips.
Please note that the lamp fittings are sympathetically mounted. Designed not to damage the glass in any way, they are easily removable.
Circa 1850.
