A lovely pair of early Sheffield made Georgian silver hand pierced wine coasters made in 1775.The coasters still bear the original owners coat of arms to one side and have oak bases. The Sheffield assay office was established in 1773 so these are about as early a pair of Sheffield made coasters as one could find. The coasters have a fine beaded border and the slat piercing is punctuated with gothic quatrefoils.
