This pair of outstanding Antique George III Sterling Silver Shell Butter Dishes are of a plain scallop shell form. In a natural shell what would be the bivalve, forms the plain scrolling handpiece to each dish.

Each dish is supported by two nautilus style feet. These large butter shells are an exceptional pair and at one time, must have being sent to France as they have the French import mark on the side of the handles.
