A really stunning, rare, Archibald Knox gold and enamel necklace in its original box. The design is a classic complex Knox design augmented with beautiful enamels. The enamels have a lovely play of red, green and blue. Condition of both necklace and box is excellent.
See “Archibald Knox”, 2nd Edition, page 252, by Stephen Martin for the same necklace set with mother of pearl. An identical necklace set with turquoise can be found in at the Delaware Art Museum.
Starting from 12th October to 13th January at the Manx Museum Douglas, Isle of Man, is a new Knox exhibition, “Archibald Knox – Artist, Designer and Teacher”.
Some of his best silver, jewellery, clocks, watercolours and illustrations will be on display. Loan items from The Peartree Collection will include this wonderful necklace.
