An Extremely Attractive And Relatively Unusual 19th Century Chinese Export, Oriental Hardwood Two Tier Lamp Table Retaining Good Colour Throughout With Attractive Carved Decoration Raised On Square Legs And Elegant Shaped Feet.
Many items were produced in China for the western market from early in the 19th century and beyond. These items are commonly referred to now as having been made for the Chinese Export market and the most prolifically found of these items tend to be coffee tables, opium tables, nests of tables and to a slightly lesser extent altar type side tables.
One of the reasons these types of items prove so popular in the modern world is because it is of course very difficult to find genuine European antique 18th and 19th century items of furniture which would suit as a modern day coffee table, as they simply didn’t make, or use low tables in Europe during antique times. This particular table is slightly different to the norm, being of two tiers and a normal sort of height. Therefore it would serve as an excellent lamp table, or bedside table , or just general occasional table.
It is particularly elegant, constructed from rich, dense oriental hardwood which is very hard wearing meaning the table is perfectly suitable for warm mugs, spilt drinks and other similar events which occur in day to day life.
As with all items we offer for sale it has been inspected by our highly skilled, specialist, traditional antique furniture restorers before being made available for sale, to ensure that it is in absolutely tip top condition.
