Nineteenth Century Giltwood Drum Table.
An unusual early Nineteenth Century carved giltwood octagonal drum table; the drum table's leathered top with a carved gadrooned edge above four frieze drawers decorated with carved strapwork. The table's drawers are cedar lined, a great sign of quality, and one drawer is compartmentalised and another retains its original writing slope. The drum table raised on an elegantly scrolling four splay stem which terminates in a plinth base.
Circa: 1840.
This is the first drum table I have seen made out of giltwood and it has survived in remarkably untouched condition. The drum table's leather top is original as is the leather on the writing slope. The majority of the drum table's gilded decoration is also original.
