In gros and petit point silks and wools. English, circa 1762. In later frame.

After Jean François de Troy (1679-1752), David and Bathsheba, 1727, musée des Beaux-Arts, Angers.

This painting was engraved by James Kirk and the (reversed) image appears in the Revd. John Butley's The Bible Illustrated and Explained, 1762. We are grateful to Will Motley for this information.
