A brilliant narrow and very long antique Heriz runner woven on an unusual pale sandy tone background.  Amazing fine weave with rich terracottas, greens, blues and in top condition throughout.  The pile height is excellent across this durable antique runner, which uses tribal star designs and stylised Turtle motifs seen in Lenokran rugs from the Caucasus in Azerbaijan.

Please request a home visit to see this stunning antique Heriz runner at home, we love to travel all over the UK showing our rugs, carpets and runners in customers homes.

Heriz and Karaja are not far from the Azerbaijan Border so they draw influences from many Caucasian rugs and runners. They are easily recognisable with repeating medallions similar to those in caucasian rugs. The central motif is often the latch-hooked design motif or an eight-pointed star.  The village weavings of Karaja such as this runner often use a simpler repeating medallion design with a great array of colour.
