Circa 1850

The table with a massive octagonal top with carved deep double edge moulding and frieze, the tooled green leather-lined surface uniquely divided into nine geometric sections, the four-sided base intricately carved with open gothic arches and pierced quatrefoils, recumbent lions to the corners, each holding a shield in his front paws.

The present table displays the marked influence of the work of Augustus Pugin, in particular his designs for the Palace of Westminster.

We are not aware of any other table which features a top that is divided into geometric sections.
