Ming late 16th Century celadon warming bowl, made at the kilns at Longquan. An unusual and rare item. A difficult piece to pot in celadon.
The bowl is potted with a hollow internal compartment which is accessed by a hole in the base, as shown on the photos.
The glaze is of a good colour and typical of the later 16th century celadons and covers a carved pattern in the body. The sides are incised with flower sprays and the bottom of the interior of the bowl is carved with a large flower head
