Mid 19th Century Chess Top Lamp Table.
A Very Good Quality Mid 19th Century, William IV Period, Mahogany Lamp Table, Or Occasional Table, Having Superbly Figured Circular Top With Attractive Chess Board Inlaid Decoration, Raised On Reverse Tapering, Faceted, Column With Finely Carved Collar, To Triform Base With Original Carved Paw Feet.
This lovely quality little occasional table dates to the late regency, or William IV period and is a very attractive little thing indeed. Quite intentionally constructed using high end mahogany timbers, one would imagine because the maker knew that would help it to last when being used heavily, it remains in excellent condition and has great elegance to it.
Of course there is also the added bonus of having a chess board inlaid to the top, which allows one to have a quick game whenever they may fancy. The chess board, as with the rest of the table, is excellently executed and really does add to the piece overall.
Overall, as mentioned above, this 19th century games table is in quite excellent condition and has clearly been both well loved and well used throughout its life. As with all items which we offer for sale it has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being placed onto sale, ensuring that it is ready for immediate placement within the home.
