Mid-18th century Dutch delftware wall plaque.

Cartouche-shaped with a lady standing beside a fence on a terrace amongst blossom sprays and peonies with an acrobatic bird and insect flying overhead.

The border in moulded relief with twigs, scrolls and stylised leaves. The top pierced for hanging. Decorated in blue on a pale blue glaze. Restoration to a break. Third quarter of the 18th century.

1750 to 1775 Dutch.

Condition report

The quality of the chinoiserie painting of this wall plaque is exceptionally fine. It is also remarkable that it has survived in original condition, reflecting the fact that it has probably always been held in high esteem and well cared for.
