Part of the suite of eight decorative panels in shades of blue and white that the painter Michel-Hubert Descours produced in 1755 for the living room of his house in Bernay in the rue Grand-Bourg. Descours in 1731 moved to Paris and learned his trade from one of the greatest masters of his time, Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659-1743) and learnt the art of portraiture.
