A rare Art Nouveau Meissen porcelain group of a cat mothering her kittens, designed by Heinrich Julius Hähnel (born 1823 in Schmiedeberg – died 1909 in Dresden).  In the 19th and 20th centuries, Meissen capitalised on the talents of popular day sculptors, aside from their full time employees and commissioned their skills, expertise and artistry.
