Mediterranean Black Coral Specimen.
Black Corals Antipatharia live at depths over 450 metres in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and are the oldest marine organism with a life span of over 4000 years. The coral has a very slow radial growth rate of 4 to 35 micrometers per year.
