Provenance: painted for William Arkwright, Sutton Hall, Sutton Scarsdale, Derbyshire, thence by descent in the Arkwright family.
William Arkwright (1857-1925) was a leading authority on pointers and the author of The Pointer and his Predecessor, 1902. Largo, born in 1901, was his favourite pointer.
