A very rare Mary Tudor silver apostle spoon, The Master, maker’s mark of John Frende III hallmarked London 1555. The spoon has a sacred dove nimbus and the rear of the bowl is prick-engraved, A.P.A rare master apostle spoon of good condition and gauge.This spoon is mentioned in How’s important and leading book of early English spoons.

Year: 1555. Pre Elizabethan silver is of extreme rarity- Elizabethan silver is also rare! As far as we are aware this is the only example of Mary I silver for sale (2023) in the world and one of the earliest examples of english silver available (see our entry for Swaythling apostle spoons and 1528 William Simpson apostle spoon).
