London: Printed for W. and J. Mount, and T. Page, 1747. Illustrated with woodcuts, diagrams, and tables. First published in 1694 and innumerable times throughout the 18th century. In considerably original condition, new leather spine, page 19/20 removed.  5.75 in x 7.75 in x .75 in  Inscribed to the title page Isaac Woodhouse, presumably for the book's owner. Isaac Woodhouse is recorded as Master Mariner of Whitby, sometime commanding the Brotherly Love. A headstone in the yard of Whitby Church  (transept corner) is engraved 'To the Memory of Isaac Woodhouse Master Mariner who was interred at Newcastle Nov 25th 1781 aged 67y And Anne his wife interred here July 17th 1800 aged 77y Also Andrew their son who was drowned in the Greenland Seas April 16th 1777 aged 19y........'. Son Andrew is recorded as a whaler.
