A fine set of four French 1st standard (.950 purity) dishes/plates made for the Maharaja of Baroda by Paul Canaux of Paris Circa 1895 for The Laxmi Vilas Palace in Vadodara( Baroda), India. The plates have acanthus leaf borders and are engraved twice with the Maharajas Crest. They are engraved to the reverse with the makers name and the French 1st standard 95 percent purity mark for export (In this case India). To the reverse are engraved the original scratch weights to the back of each (580 grams) although the individual weights range from a low of 574 Grams to a high of 648 Grams. A lovely set with a very interesting provenance. Can be split into two pairs if required.
