Woven in the early 20th century this attractive Mahal rug has some lovely colours, including a warm red background.  An ivory white border, subtle greens and some delicate pale blues.  A great small antique rug for the home, condition wise it is good, some minimal low areas of pile. We supply excellent rug underlay with any purchase.

Request a home visit below to try this antique Mahal rug in situ at a convenient time.  We travel all over the UK showing carpets and rugs in customers homes, helping you to find the perfect rug to suit your interior.

Mahal carpets and rugs were produced in Sultanabad, Persia which is now Arak in the centre of Iran. Mahal and Sultanabad rugs were made in the same area as the earliest Fereghans and Sarouks, but they are very different in form and structure.  Floral motifs and overall designs of vinescrolls and palmettes remain consistent with the influences of western colour palettes and are all characteristics of Ziegler carpets.
