Soft tones with pale greens, yellows and blues and a wonderful open floral design on this antique Mahal carpet from Persia, circa 1900-1910 in very good original order.  A large antique carpet ideal for a drawing room or in a dining room.  The pile height is very high all over this decorative large carpet and the fringes are original too.  A great antique piece ideal to furnish with or build a scheme around.  Minimal wear scattered over this carpet, in general the pile is high and very soft.  As it has been professionally washed by ourselves.

We love to help customers and interior designers source the ideal carpet for a room, if this beautiful antique Mahal carpet is of interest to you please email us to arrange a time to view it in-situ or in our showroom in Crondall, Surrey.  We travel all over London the UK & Europe showing our carpets in situ.

Mahal carpets were produced in Sultanabad, Persia which is now Arak in the center of Iran. Mahal and Sultanabad rugs were made in the same area as the earliest Fereghans and Sarouks, but they are very different in form and structure. Floral motifs and overall designs of vine scrolls and palmettes remain consistent with the influences of western color palettes and are all characteristics of Ziegler carpets.
